INTRODUCTION Ultimate UI by Nathanmx (nathon@executus) These instructions are to guide you in setting up your UI before you start playing the game so that you can have a completely setup and working UI without any effort. These instructions are for people who wish to directly copy my UI settings. I run WoW at the highest resolution my crappy Video Card can support: 1280 x 1024. Now, you can use Ultimate UI with ANY RESOLUTION, but my settings are for MY SETUP, so you'll have to do a few extra tweaks of your own to make UUI work for you if you choose to use a different resolution. Alright, now lets get started. First, make sure WoW isn't running while you do follow these instructions. :)
STEP 1: Delete old junk As a general rule of thumb it is a good idea to delete your old 'Interface'
folder before installing a new UI. You can backup all mods at your leisure,
but remember if you install a new mod on top of an old version you might
cause some problems so it's usually a good idea to start fresh. Step 2: Extract the files You need to extract the contents of the UUI .zip file you downloaded into your 'World of Warcraft' folder. If your computer prompts you whether to replace anything or not, then you probably didn't delete the correct files. Check Step 1 again. Step 4: Rename folders Now you need to rename a few folders so they match your account, character,
and server settings. In your newly extracted 'WTF' folder there is an
'Account' folder that lists the accounts you have settings for. Inside
that folder you will see one named "YOUR_ACCOUNT_NAME".
Change the folders name to the name of your account. Step 5: Switch my character and server with yours Now this step requires a little extra work. As with all the steps, it is optional, but the more steps you do the more perfect your UI will be when you log in for the first time. Here's the deal: many addons save their settings on a per-character, per-server basis, so this means if you just started playing right now, even with my settings nothing would happen because you aren't using my character. The last step we just did fixes the per-character per-server per-account settings that the Blizzard UI has in place, now this step will fix the one for addons. What you need to do is replace all instances of 'Nathon' with your characters name and all instances of 'Executus' with your server name. Now, you could go through each .lua file one by one (open with any normal text editor) and make the changes manually, or you could just use a program to do it for you. The program I use is called "InfoRapid Search & Replace" (its free: information website | direct download ). Its sole purpose is to rapidly search through large amounts of files for text and allows you to automatically replace found text with something else. Feel free to install it (I use it all the time, it's very handy) as it will greatly speed up the replacement process (especially if you are setting up UUI2 for more than one character). How to Use InfoRapid S&R Right-click your WTF folder, there should be an option "Search with InfoRapid" (if not, go to where you installed the InfoRapid program (perhaps C:\Program Files\seRapid) and click 'seRapid.exe' to start the program. In the 'File' menu there is an option to 'Add to Context Menu' - make sure it's checked (you can uncheck it later once all the replacing is done). Now right-click your WTF folder, click 'Search with InfoRapid'. Your mouse should automatically be in the "Search for" field - type in "Nathon" and then click the "Replace" tab. In the "Replace with" field type the name of your character (it's probably case sensitive so the first letter should be capitalized). It will prompt you if you want to proceed with the replacement - check the "Replace All" option and then yes. That's it for that! Now just repeat the same steps but instead search for 'Executus' and replace it with the name of your server. After that you're done so close the program (you can now uncheck the 'Add to Context Menu' option if you so desire). That's it! Go play WoW and have fun, hassle free. :) Some Notes - There is no MoveAnything anymore. The only thing I ever really used it for was to move the tooltip anyways, and so I made my own tooltip mover feature. Just type /morph and click the tooltip anchor button to move the tootip around. It's that easy. - (as of version 2.0.1 'pre-beta') I noticed that sometimes I get this weird thing where my frames 'stack' on top of each other. (Like when I'm trying to view macros and inspect someone at the same time, instead of one pushing the other to the middle, they are are top of each other. I'm not fully sure what causes that yet... this is beta though I'm still weeding out all the bugs so deal with it for now or better yet help me narrow down what's causing it. :D You can contact me via the Curse-Gaming website for suggestions, bug-reports, tips, praise, etc. :) Some commands: |
